Participants’ age and profile:

– Over 21 years old
– youth workers / social youth workers. They can be full time or part time employees or work on a voluntary basis with children and youth. They should be interested in a professional exchange, to share their experiences and gain new knowledge in their daily work.
– the participants should have working experience in youth work (minimum one year) and be active in this field.
– basic knowledge of English.

Description:

The project consists of a first mobility for 6 German people in Bologna and a second mobility for 6 Italian people in Leipzig.
With this project twelve professionals of youth work (6 from Italy, 6 from Germany) will receive by a study trip insight into the youth work in Bologna and Leipzig. They get an overview about the structures, visit youth centers, organizations and initiatives of youth welfare, exchange views with personnel on the ground from experiencing daily processes, learn new methods, projects and approaches, participate as far as possible in activities with the children and youth and improve thereby their professional, intercultural and linguistic competences.
The participants get a new perspective, new impulses and ideas for their own daily work. Main topics of the exchange are concepts for violence prevention, integration / inclusion, discrimination, school dropout and drug use.
Main activities:

In Leipzig, participants will receive a general overview of the structure of youth work, visit socio-cultural centers as providers of youth welfare services (VILLA, Haus Steinstraße) and other associations and organizations of youth work (Caritas) including Protestant youth services such as Diakonie Leipzig. The participants will get to know projects like the dance laboratory in the VILLA (a mixed-abled Company, an initiative to promote contemporary dance in Leipzig, including people with disabilities) to take up the issue inclusion in youth work on a project example. In addition, a discussion with the youth department of the city of Leipzig is planned.
Topics in both exchanges, Leipzig and Bologna, is dealing with deviant behavior (truancy / school dropout, drug use, discrimination based on disability, social status, cultural affiliation) and concepts for the prevention of violence and exchange on integration / inclusion of children and youth. If possible, the participants are also involved in activities and work together with the staff on afternoon activities with the kids.

The range of topics is intentionally very broad, so that we can evaluate well the areas in which a deepening would be appropriate and could possibly also lead to follow-up projects.
Thus, the participants of both cities will receive an insight into other structures, methods, everyday processes and projects for children and young people, get in direct contact with professionals and local young people.

 

Learning outcomes:

– Knowledge about systems and measures of social youth work in Leipzig and Bologna, topics can be: dealing with deviant behavior: dropping out of school, drug use , violence, discrimination based on disability, social status, cultural affiliation; Approaches to violence prevention, exchange on integration and inclusion
– To get to know new methods, project ideas, pedagogic appoaches
– Intercultural competence, positive ways of dealing with cultural diversity, european awareness, personal enrichment
Financial conditions:

– Food, accommodation and activities are 100% covered by the project
– Travel costs are covered by the project up to a maximum of € 275/ participant
– The participants will live in a guest house in Leipzig. They have single rooms and share two kitchens. They get money for food (12 Euro/day, half on travel days) and week ticket for transportation. The city center is 15 minutes by tramway.
– “Quota associativa YouNet”: €70. These membership fees should be paid only by confirmed participants and give them the status of YouNet’s member and access to all our benefits.

As a result of the participation in this project, will be issued a European certification (Europass – Mobility Pass) certifying the skills gained and valid for the European CV.

There will be a german/italian translator and help for orientation. The programme is around 4-5 hours a day (2 hours in the morning, lunch break, 2-3 hours in the afternoon), one afternoon will be free.

There is no insurance against theft, accident insurance, civil liability insuranc and health/ insurance financed by the programme. The participants are responsible for their own health and travel insurance.
