Cultural diversity is one of the greatest wealth of the current European societies. The number of communities and minority groups present in the different countries is the proof of this. Whether they are national, religious, ethnic, social or cultural minorities, they are an important asset for building an intercultural Europe. However, this diversity is not always valued. It is often decried, and in some cases held as responsible for some of the society ills. Even If the history of the societies has always been linked and enriched by migration, discriminatory practices remain a problem in many societies. The gradual rise of nationalist identity is a reflection of this. Young people from minority groups, as well as those living in highly multicultural environments, are important vectors of promoting a mentality change. However, they are often stigmatized and excluded, while they play a decisive role in the evolution of the society. Today the fight for equal rights and opportunities, as well as the fight against poverty and social exclusion, is a major issue. This is why it seemed essential for us and our partners to deepen the question of diversity. Because, if some differences are obvious (ethnicity, religion or language), others are less so (education level, social and economic status, sexuality, health, hidden or visible disabilities). We will approach these questions about diversity through the following axes:
* Diversity management by youth professionals
* Promoting intercultural encounters (better understand diversity, to better appreciate it)
* The keys of “The living together” (ex: how to cooperate despite the differences, how to detect the positive in each situation, how to argue while respecting, and accepting the opinion of the other).
* How to make of the difference a force, or an asset in the process of socio-professional integration of youth.
