Become Busy – B.B

If the “Become Busy – B.B.” project could be summarized in two keywords, they would certainly be “Youth Entrepreneurship” and “ICT – Information and Communication Technologies.”

Its main aim is to enhance young people’s skills by introducing and strengthening the concept of entrepreneurship.

The economic crisis that began in the last decade has created a particularly fragile situation for young people. Youth unemployment rates are high, poverty and social exclusion are increasing, and many are forced to leave their country—or even Europe—in search of better opportunities. This phenomenon, known as the “brain drain,” is difficult to counter.

Entrepreneurship is a crucial factor for economic growth and job creation: it generates opportunities for trade and collaboration across sectors, opens doors to new markets, increases productivity, and strengthens the foundations of a healthy economy. The mindset of those who have independently started their own business can positively inspire young people, enhancing their employability. This entrepreneurial mindset, together with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), forms the backbone of the European economy and is a key source of employment for young people. Youth entrepreneurship is also important for autonomy, personal growth, and prosperity, and can be seen as an effective strategy to combat youth unemployment.

Europe 2020, the EU’s programme for growth and employment, focuses significantly on young people, aiming primarily to reduce the risk of poverty and increase youth employment rates. Education plays a fundamental role in shaping young people’s attitudes and skills, and entrepreneurship education must be supported, developed, and disseminated.

Entrepreneurship should therefore not be understood merely as the creation of a business, but also as the fertile ground on which a skilled workforce can develop—capable of innovating, anticipating change, and facing challenges.

The project responds to the priorities of Europe 2020 by creating an innovative tool to develop young people’s skills and encourage them to put their business ideas into practice. This is a virtual platform where it is possible to simulate the launch and development of an entrepreneurial idea.

The Become Busy – B.B. digital platform, as a learning tool, is intended for European-wide dissemination: it will be available in English and in the languages of the partner countries (Italian, Spanish, and Greek) and accessible to any young person willing to use it through an open-source software system.
