Agata's Experience in Spain

After six months, my volunteering experience in Jerez de la Frontera came to an end. During these months, I volunteered at AjInter, an organization that works mainly with young people by organizing and promoting Erasmus+ projects. My tasks were mostly related to social media, writing the journal, helping during the projects, collaborating with two other NGOs and supporting the organization wherever needed. I am really grateful for this opportunity. I had many different experiences that helped me grow a lot and learn new things. I had the opportunity to live abroad, outside of my comfort zone and away from my family and friends and this taught me so much about independence and self-confidence. I also met many different people and made connections all over Europe.

I discovered a new country, a new culture and a new language. In fact, I learned Spanish and improved my English. Beyond the practical skills I gained, this experience helped me become more open-minded, adaptable and aware of different perspectives and ways of life.

I cannot fully describe everything I experienced during these six months, but I can suggest to anyone who feels the need to discover a new country, a new version of themselves, or a new point of view to take the chance and try volunteering. It can be challenging at times, but it is also one of the most rewarding experiences you can have.

Now I am back home and I feel that this experience was a chapter in my life, but I am sure it will always have a place in my heart. These six months changed my perspective in many ways, helped me grow as a person and taught me lessons that I will carry with me in the future. So, who knows? Maybe this is not really the end, but just the beginning of new opportunities.
