Anna Laura's experience in France

I have just completed 11 months as a “Peace Ambassador” with Unis-Cité in France, in Caen, and I can say that this experience has profoundly changed me.

Together with an intercultural group of 12 young people from as many as six different nationalities, both European and non-European, I worked to raise awareness among young people about human rights and active citizenship, at a time when I believe these topics are more necessary than ever. We did this through playful and engaging activities such as presentations, games, and moments of dialogue and exchange.

Starting from the people I met and shared my mission days with — colleagues who became friends, with whom I built sincere and deep relationships — I experienced firsthand the importance of dialogue and mutual trust.

I learned patience, empathy, and adaptability. Truly listening and responding with kindness became a daily habit. I realized that even the simplest gestures — a conversation, a smile, a shared action — can make a difference. I return enriched by new friendships, meaningful exchanges, and a renewed awareness of how essential it is to promote human rights, every day and everywhere.
