Bruna's experience in Aruba

My name is Bruna, I am a 26-year-old Italian woman. Although I had previous experiences with European opportunities, this was my first time taking part in a project overseas. From August to the end of September, I had the pleasure of working at a donkey sanctuary and volunteering in a prison on the island of Aruba.

The Caribbean gave me countless emotions. The work allowed me to get to know these wonderful animals more closely, and the people I met reminded me that even on the other side of the world it is possible to build deep, love-based connections.

I lived every single day on the island to the very last minute: I chased sunsets, tasted exotic fruits, explored every corner, danced, smiled, loved, and sang. Oh, I almost forgot — I also became the “mom” of a little donkey named Mango!

I would recommend anyone to take a chance on themselves and let themselves be carried away by the many opportunities that the European Solidarity Corps can offer.
