Hello, my name is Luca and I spent two months volunteering in Ankara, Turkey, on a project promoting education and sport with the aim of supporting young people in their personal and professional development.
Participating in the European Solidarity Corps was a unique experience that allowed me to grow and challenge myself in many ways. It gave me the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone, become more independent, develop new skills and interact with people of different cultures, ages and backgrounds.
At first, living with people from different cultural backgrounds might seem difficult, but that was the essence of the experience: understanding other people’s lifestyles, adapting to new situations, working together to find common solutions and discussing different traditions and perspectives.
Thanks to this experience, I now feel more confident in expressing myself, more culturally aware, empathetic and socially responsible. I will always treasure this period and what I have learned, and I will encourage anyone who is curious about having a similar experience to apply for the ESC.
